NOVEMBER MONTHLY MEETING

Ed Rankin the host of ICF Coaching and Human Capital Community of Practice, has agreed to give his most recent presentation on Biases and the Impact on Beliefs and Thinking to our group.

We would greatly appreciate your online registration prior to the meeting to ensure the check in process is quick and you are able to engage with other attendees prior to the start of the program. Thank you.

Biases, emotional and cognitive, can be impediments to rational decision-making. Recent research in cognitive psychology and consciousness studies has provided new insight into how biases, defense mechanisms and other schema can produce harmful unconscious reactions that create barriers to effective living. Helping clients become aware of their biases and then give them tools with which to mitigate the effect of these biases on their lives can aid them in discovering their truth paths. In addition, when biases are uncovered, coaches and clients may find a “new language” in discussing heuristics or “shortcuts” in decision-making. Clients may find a way to live more consciously and authentically.

Two of the competencies addressed in this presentation are:

  • 1.     Helping your clients discover their paths
  • 2.     Communication with Clients
This presentation is an expanded version of the presentation Ed delivered as a presenter at ICF Converge 2017 and to the Coaching and Human Capital Community of Practice in August. To learn more about Ed and his work in Leadership Development, please visit http://www.edwinrankin.com/.
