SMART CHANGE AND INFLUENCE

In order to influence the behavior of other people, it is not enough just to give them a persuasive message.  It is important to help people go through the same process you would need to engage in yourself to change your behavior.  I will explore the way the motivational system works in order to motivate five tools to help you influence the behavior of other people.  These tools involve optimizing goals, planning to develop new habits, overcoming temptations, managing the environment, and engaging with other people.  I illustrate these elements with examples of individual behavior change as well as influencing the behavior of others.
